Sri Lanka Railway Workshop

Sri Lanka Railway Workshop, Rathmalana is a facility that specializes in the repair, maintenance, and manufacturing of locomotives for Sri Lanka’s railway network. In addition to engine overhauls, the workshop also manufactures spare parts and tools using machining and casting techniques.

During my time at the Sri Lanka Railway Workshop in Rathmalana, I had the privilege to work with highly experienced workers in the repair and maintenance of locomotives. My work involved not only engine overhauls but also the manufacturing of spare parts and tools through machining and casting.

Through my interactions with colleagues, I was able to learn and gain hands-on experience in basic and uncommon mechanical engineering operations. Working alongside individuals who had been in the industry for 30-40 years gave me the opportunity to learn from their wealth of knowledge.

My experience at the Sri Lanka Railway Workshop enabled me to gain practical knowledge in repair and maintenance techniques that have proven to be useful throughout my career. Additionally, I acquired the skills necessary to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, which is crucial for anyone practicing engineering in a workshop environment.

Overall, my time at the Sri Lanka Railway Workshop in Rathmalana was an invaluable experience that provided me with essential skills and knowledge for my career as a mechanical engineer.
